About

—this page is in English so my non Dutch friends understand what it’s about as well—

My name is Richard Theuws, I was born in Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 1973 and after having had many jobs (from working in construction to being the general manager of a martial arts brand) me an my wife Sharon started our own company in 2003. Our company evolved into the current Merchandise.nl (or Merchsupply.com if you prefer the English site). We currently operate with an office staff of 7 (6.7 fte) from Bladel, the Netherlands. Our company has been growing every year since founded.

I LIVE online, guess my internet presence reaches (sometimes exceeds) about 14 hours a day. I LOVE social media, but I HATE stuff like LinkedIn, ‘twitter coaches’ and A LOT MORE (you’ll read about it here, for sure).

I’ve been a music fanatic ever since I was about 12 or so, and still am. I’ve worked security duty at the Dynamo Open Air festival and some others. I played in a band once, but within a few months found out I’m not that kind of a teamplayer.

My lifestyle involves good food, good music and good drinking, but I am also a serious businessman. In 2009 I won the zibb Business Challenge (a Reed Business title) and thus was chosen “Most Creative Entrepeneur” for a whole year.

In case you didn’t recognize the font of my headers, the title of this blog refers to the first line of a Misfits Song (Spotify link, here’s Youtube in case you don’t have Spotify). Listen to more of my favourite songs (on Spotify) through my Playlist.

Hire me?

Let me get one thing clear: I am NOT your regular ‘consultant for hire’. I’m a business owner who is constantly working on improving his own business and this gave me a clear eye on problems that exist in many businesses.

When I started out at a supermarket at age 16, I quickly grew to become the shift leader for a refilling crew. After a few weeks, my crew was the fastest, since I worked on efficiency all the time. I have never stopped doing this.

Over the years I helped tons of business owners with their strategy, (internet)marketing & social media, efficiency, website development and lots of other matters. I also give lectures on a regular basis on Fontys Academy for Creative Industries (Tilburg), in the Advanced Course Entrenepeurship.

I have a rather unusual blunt and to the point approach, so in case you’re interested, get in touch with me. We’ll have a talk first and see if we can work together from there on.
